AUGUST 20, 2005 - NOON - DOWNTOWN SAN FRANCISCO (U.N. PLAZA)



Where: We will START & END at the U.N. PLAZA (corner of 8th/market)
next to water fountain.

March Route: March across 7th street, march across Market on 7th
(right side of street) head toward mission - gather in front of 9th
circuit (Gathering Point #1) - go through our mele and then continue
our march. March across Mission, make a right - cross 7th and head
straight on mission (left side of mission), Make a right at 8th street
(right side of street) head to Market. Make a right at market and
gather (Gathering Point #2), go through our mele and then head to 7th
again. Cross 7th street back to U.N. Plaza. We need help from the kane
(men) ages 30-40 to be at all of the intersections helping us abide by
the traffic lights. We will not leave anybody behind and will wait for
everybody to gather before we resume (we are not in a rush –
safety first)


Parking: Please plan ahead for parking – Mission St. Garage
(between 4th/5th)


BART: The "Civic Center" station for BART and Muni will get you to
Market and 8th -- walk west one block (up market) to the U.N. Plaza.


What: Protest march and rally in support of Kamehameha schools and all
things Hawaiian. – Organized Speeches/March/Pule/Oli. This is not
a show/performance - the mele/oli/hula are meant for unification.

Gentle but important reminder: We would like to have a pono march.
Please keep signage to slogans such as "Education for Hawaiians,"
"Justice for Hawaiians," "Hawaiian Unity," and the like. We will have
flyers from the Kamehameha Schools with educational information about
the admissions policy as well as historic information on Hawaii to
hand out to media and interested passersby.


What to Wear: Red/Black clothing (kihei/pareo/shirt etc..) bring
banners/signs (no racist comments please), there will be "Ku i Ka
Pono" shirts for purchase $10-15 (limited supply)., this event is
meant to unify - please wear prescribed prescribed colors to show
unity


What to bring: Pu (conch shell), pu`ohe (bamboo trumpet), bamboo with
red/black ribbon to wave, Hawaiian flag, red kihei, red hanaka
(hankerchief), water, mat (to sit), kumu's please bring your pahu,
